  • Good morning, folks!

I sure will miss these Florida sunrises and sunsets. ๐ŸŒ… They steal your breath every time.
-
-
But the chance to see sunrises and sunsets from places all over the country makes my heart flutter just a little. ๐Ÿ’–

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday. I will be working, but that's okay - I enjoy my job. ๐Ÿค—
  • First day of spring means first day of allergy season. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคง

After super heavy rains all day yesterday, I've been knocked on my butt by sinus issues all day today. The Beans and I had to lay down for a spell. It's such a rough life for a little #pomchi. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’™

Happy spring, y'all. ๐Ÿ’
  • We've been gearing up recently for our trip out west. Our last day in the Keys is fast approaching and there's a lot of planning to be done - especially since we're taking a little time to see a few places along the way. โ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿœ๏ธ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐ŸŒ‡

On deck for a bit of sightseeing is St. Augustine, New Orleans, Austin, Sedona, Joshua Tree and Yosemite. We're super excited to experience the Southwest as neither one of us has really spent any amount of time there. ๐Ÿค”

If anyone has any must see or must do ideas, send them our way!
  • Someone made a friend at work last week. ๐ŸฆŒ

Key deer are the smallest subspecies of North American white-tailed deer and they live mostly in Big Pine and No Name Keys. They were listed as an endangered species in 1967 after poaching and habitat loss drastically reduced their numbers and they are still protected today.

We aren't proponents of feeding or touching wildlife, but it's obvious that a few of the deer have had close contact with humans and have no fear of approaching us. They are mostly looking for food, like this sweet buck, but we don't indulge them. This guy showed up several days in a row seeking out attention from Brian so he decided to snap a pic to show me his adorable stalker. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • Today we are celebrating the birthday of the most wonderful man I know! It's hard to believe I've known him for nearly 15 years now and even more hard to believe that he was only 23 when I first met him. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

He was such a punk ass back then ๐Ÿคฃ - but he was smart and driven and generous to a fault. I somehow knew in those early days that he would become a big part of my life. All these years later, he is the best part of my life. Even with all the difficult times, I don't regret a second of the last 15 years. ๐Ÿ’‘

We had planned to spend the day in Key West doing a bunch of fun stuff, but one of us ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ had to go and catch a nasty head cold, thus derailing all of said plans. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคง

But he won't complain for a minute about having to take care of his sicky wife on his birthday weekend because that's who he is. Although, he may complain about the pictures I posted. ๐Ÿ˜
  • We had a pretty good weekend full of blue skies, blue water, boats, fishing, sunburn, new friends and smiles ear to ear. ๐ŸŽฃโ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšค๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ˜

This is the first weekend that we've been able to just relax and enjoy life down here. It was also the first chance I had to get out on the water - although after one motion sickness pill and a whole lot of sun, I was passed out by 6:30 last night. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ด

One of the benefits of living in Florida during the winter months – aside from 78 degree days in February – is the abundance of beautiful farmersโ€™ market offerings of fruits and vegetables that we wouldnโ€™t otherwise have access to if we were still in the Northeast. …

One of us (ahem, Brian) loves pineapple. Maybe loves it more than is healthy. But of all things to love too much, itโ€™s not a bad one. It is one of the tastiest and juiciest tropical fruits out there and I donโ€™t think weโ€™ve met anyone who …

There is something about baking bread in a wood-fired oven that just seems right. It could be the history of it all, the time and care that it takes to build and tend a fire all day, or perhaps itโ€™s just the delicious flavor of wood-fired loaves. …

If youโ€™re in the thick of an Indian Summer like us, you definitely need to know how to make tepache de pina, or pineapple tepache. Instead of lamenting the lingering heat, weโ€™re taking full advantage and making summery pickles and ferments using pineapples, like the Pineapple-Pickled Jicama …
