Brian & Gabi Kinney

  • Our morning sauerkraut class was a success and we had a little time before our evening class to wander around. The PA Farm Show never disappoints with its adorable farm animals, life-size butter people, hop vines (!!) and our favorite - wine tastings! ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿท๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฟ
  • Tomorrow we will be doing two presentations at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. We will be at the Agriculture 101 Stage at 10:00 showing folks how to make small batch sauerkraut and again at 5:00 making berry wine. If you are going to the show, stop by and say hello!
  • For today's RV reno post I wanted to show you the extra storage we are adding to the back wall of our trailer. It will have the same butcher block counter top as the kitchen and will give us more space for prepping meals and creating recipes for our blog. We put in a power strip for plugging in appliances and the cabinets underneath will house the cookbooks, record player and records that Brian refuses to live without. To be honest, I can't live without them either. ๐ŸŽถ

It is much further along at this point and I will share those photos in the coming days, but it is looking so cool. I can't wait to fill it with stuff! ๐Ÿ˜†
  • Okay, after a two day break wherein my stress level reached a new high ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ฃ... let's get back on track with the RV reno posts. Tonight's feature - the beginnings of our new butcher block counter tops. Brian spotted these counter tops on clearance at the place where we purchased our flooring. They have a few minor flaws, but it's nothing that we can't easily clean up.

I also included a shot of the stainless steel undermount sink that we're putting in and one of my fabulous papa cutting the hole for the sink. Exciting, no? Well it is for us! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ I can't wait to see the finished product!
  • Late post again! I will get better at this... maybe. ๐Ÿ™„ Another lovely shot of me being "handy" and a little video from Brian of us laying down the new flooring. We went with the stick on vinyl planks because 1. budget (69 cents a square foot) and 2. weight. This particular one is only 1.3 mm thick and very lightweight and when you are towing a 12,000 pound trailer, you have to consider weight. It's not too shabby, I suppose. ๐Ÿค”

Sweet dreams! โœจ
  • Happy place! What better way to spend the morning than to tour the fine facilities of @fineandraw chocolate? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿซ

There is something about baking bread in a wood-fired oven that just seems right. It could be the history of it all, the time and care that it takes to build and tend a fire all day, or perhaps itโ€™s just the delicious flavor of wood-fired loaves. …

If youโ€™re in the thick of an Indian Summer like us, you definitely need to know how to make tepache de pina, or pineapple tepache. Instead of lamenting the lingering heat, weโ€™re taking full advantage and making summery pickles and ferments using pineapples, like the Pineapple-Pickled Jicama …

In small kitchens, space is at a premium, and limited space means that we have to be very selective about what countertop appliances & tools we possess. Weโ€™ve been slowly downsizing our appliances, getting rid of redundancies and replacing tools with combination gadgets to make the best …

Weโ€™ve discovered what is likely Gabiโ€™s new favorite topping for chicken, fish, and pretty much all of the tacos. This bright pickled concoction is super easy to make and is like summer in a jar. We love fall, itโ€™s harvest season after all. Our favorite dirt fruits …

Our mission is to celebrate the journey of life, to learn as much as we can, to share as much as we can and, hopefully, tell great stories as we go. At the end of the day, we want to meet good people, eat good food, drink good drink, make love, and have fun.
