  • It's been a while since we last posted and we are trying to get back into the swing of things after a somewhat stressful move. We are in a temporary holding pattern until our next big move, but we get to spend a bit of time with family and good friends while we prepare for our adventure. πŸοΈπŸš™ It has been cold here and that puts us in the baking mood. A little while ago we were lucky enough to spend the day baking old world breads with @nancy.d.yoder of the lovely McBurney Manor.   • Today marks 5 years since we got hitched in Vegas. This is one of my favorite photos from that weekend because it always felt like a metaphor for our life together - the plane crash behind us, life's chaos swirling all around us - but we lock eyes on one another and our focus remains there. The first few years of our relationship leading up to this day were some of the most difficult of my life with loss, grief and scary medical issues weighing me down. Brian held me upright and still does to this day. We've been through a lot and have been tested, but we are resilient as individuals and as a unit. We are about to embark on a whole new adventure, into an unfamiliar life, another one of our hair-brained schemes and I can't wait. I know as long as we are at one another's side, we can survive anything. Nothing can break that focus β€οΈβ€οΈπŸ€΅πŸ‘°

  • Took an impromptu trip down to DC yesterday to listen to a talk from @reneredzepinoma and @david_zilber on their latest The Noma Guide to Fermentation and all the amazing things you can do with food. Both chefs were equally brilliant and charming and we came away feeling inspired to push more boundaries with our own experiments. My favorite part of the evening may or may not have been getting to eat a chocolate chip cookie drizzled with fermented shoyu caramel sauce created by @nomaferments πŸͺ🀭
